Loo, DMAT-NY2 CommentsDear FL-5, You are being contacted as part of a national effort to assess and describe the mental health status of the NDMS membership. This research study is being sponsored by the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health with the knowledge of the HHS-NDMS. I, George Loo will be principal investigator and project director for this study which has also been approved by the Institutional Review Board of Columbia University. I also happen to be a member of DMAT-NY2. In order to maintain employee privacy the HHS did not release contact information of the NDMS membership. Thus I will need your help in getting the word out so that everyone has a chance to take the online survey. The plan is to spread the word via team meetings, links on team websites and if possible to send a group email via the team email server to your members with the link to the study website. Periodic reminders will be made over the next few months via NDMS officer conference calls, newsletters and further emails. The study website will contain a brief description of the study purpose, my contact information, and links to the official introduction letter and to the online survey site hosted by SurveyMonkey.com. The survey will be conducted over a secure link and information on personal identifiers will not be collected. Surveys will be anonymous and held strictly confidential. It is very important for the validity of the findings that we get a maximum turnout, so I need your help in getting the membership to spend some time online responding to the survey. You can help by making an announcement during teams meetings, placing a link on team websites to the study website and/or sending a group email via the team email server. Below is the link to the study website which is hosted at Columbia University. http://www.columbia.edu/~gtl4/ndms.htm I thank all of you in advance for your help in this very important study on the mental health of our membership.
